Priorities & Progress

When AHHA launched, we publicly shared the foundational work needed to build a credible, member-led trade association. Since then, we have completed many of those original commitments—including establishing our infrastructure, formalizing governance, creating membership tiers, adopting ethical and voting policies, and developing an enforcement process.

From Our Original May 2025 Action Items

The following content has been preserved from AHHA’s original Action Items page as a record of the commitments established during the association’s early development.

Our First Steps (May 2025)

The American Hydrogen Health Association (AHHA) is in its early stages, and we are actively working on key foundational tasks. Here’s what we’re focusing on right now:

  1. Establishing Infrastructure – In Progress by Board of Directors
    • Build the AHHA website.
    • Open a dedicated bank account.
    • File necessary paperwork with the IRS for official recognition.
  2. Growing Our Membership – In Progress by Board of Directors
    • Reach out to hydrogen industry companies.
    • Invite them to become founding members and help shape the future of the association.
  3. Setting Our Initial Objectives
    • Members will vote on our initial priorities, which may include industry standards, voting practices, advocacy efforts, and ethical guidelines.

Potential Member Benefits

(determined by AHHA members through democratic processes)

Founding members will determine AHHA’s initial objectives, but here are some potential focus areas to consider. This is not an exhaustive list, and priorities may shift as the organization evolves.

Industry Integrity

How can AHHA potentially help the Integrity of the Industry?

  • Self-regulation – Identifying and reporting misleading product listings on online retailer websites.
  • Setting Standards – Establishing clear industry benchmarks and certification criteria to promote trustworthiness.
  • Accountability – Developing enforcement policies, including warnings and penalties for unethical practices.
  • Strengthening Credibility – Working to combat misinformation and disinformation.

How can AHHA potentially help Brand Growth and Visibility for its members?

  • Trust Badges & Performance Labels – Display AHHA certification marks to boost consumer confidence.
  • Standards Compliance & Best Practices – Ensure alignment with the latest safety, marketing, and performance guidelines.
  • Consumer Education & Awareness – AHHA will help inform customers about certified brands, product transparency, and industry advancements.
  • Government & Policy Influence – Leverage collective advocacy to support research funding and public recognition.
  • Retail & E-Commerce Support – Assist in educating online marketplaces (e.g., Amazon) to better distinguish trusted brands from unverified sellers.

Key Questions for Our Members

As a democratic association, AHHA members will vote on critical policies that define how our association operates. As a founding member, you will be tasked with deciding the answers to these key questions:

  • What are the official requirements to become a member?
  • What are the penalties for violations of AHHA standards?
  • Can companies have more than one representative, and therefore, more than one vote?
  • Should there be membership tiers with different costs and benefits?
  • How will AHHA enforce industry standards and hold members accountable?

All of these questions will be decided by AHHA members through a transparent and fair voting process.
